A NEW set of guidelines has been released to ensure better consultation with regional communities where wind farms are proposed. Renewable energy peak body the Clean Energy Council has also published a community expectations guide to better inform people of what to expect from a wind farm development.It is hoped the two documents will help guide planners, wind farm developers and communities through the process of building a wind farm. ACCIONA Energy managing director Andrew Thompson said the community expectations guide would help clear up some of the misinformation around wind farms.
ACCIONA Energy operates the Waubra wind farm, which has been the subject of protests from local residents. "The key for industry is to engage early in the process ", he said.
