A MULTI-billion dollar upgrade of transmission networks is needed to deliver the State Government's renewable energy targets to the electricity grid, a clean energy group says. The target of producing 33% of electricity through renewable sources, such as wind and solar, by 2020 was welcomed by the Clean Energy Council yesterday. But chief executive Matthew Warren said there was limited capacity to transmit the electricity interstate, which limited the ability of clean energy to expand.
