A START on the $250 million Musselroe Bay wind farm could be made early next year, Roaring 40s managing director Mark Kelleher said yesterday. The enacting of legislation in NSW by October would enable the company to sell renewable energy certificates to NSW retailers. The renewable energy company has a number of new projects in the pipeline.
Mr Kelleher said. Roaring 40s, a joint venture between Hydro Tasmania and China Light and Power, opened an office in Launceston yesterday. Energy Minister David Llewellyn said the Roaring 40s workforce would double in coming months.
Mr Llewellyn is to travel to China on Sunday to open an $80 million wind farm in Shandong province. "Our partners are major government-owned companies with Datang and they expect government involvement," he said. "That is one of the positives of our relationship and I don't want to do anything that would diminish it." Roaring 40s has gone from one windfarm at Woolnorth to more than 10 within a couple of years. "The growth of the company is exponential and we're pleased about that," Mr Llewellyn said. The company would return a dividend to the State Government once the growth phase was over, he said.
